TOURIST INFORMATION

There is an information desk (tel: (0)1332 852 852) in the main terminal building which is open 24 hours a day. A board next to the information desk displays messages left for passengers.


AIRPORT FACILITIES

Money and communications: ATMs are situated in the Arrivals area of the main terminal building. There are two bureaux de change in the main terminal building.
Eating and drinking: A variety of cafés and restaurants in the food hall on the first floor offer meals, snacks and drinks; there is also a traditional British pub. There are bars in the bars in the Domestic and International Departure lounges.
Shopping: There are a number of retail outlets at the airport, including a pharmacy, a bookshop, an aviation gift shop, a lingerie and swimwear shop, a cosmetics and jewellery shop, a toy shop, a football shop, a music store, a hairdressers and a sweet shop. In the Arrivals hall, there is a convenience store selling essential food and household items. In addition, in the International Departures lounge, there is a sports shop, a bookstore, a duty and tax-free shop and a smoking lounge.
Luggage: A lost property service is operated by the information desk (tel: (0)1332 852 852).
Other facilities: Other facilities at the airport include a first aid room, nursing parents' rooms located on the first floor in the International Departures lounge and in the International Arrivals hall, children's play areas located in the main terminal building and in the International Departures lounge. A travel centre is located in the link between the Departures building and the main terminal building. First aid facilities are also available at the information desk


SERVICE TO PASSENGERS WITH DISABILITIES

Assistance is available from airport car parks to passenger terminals for passengers with restricted mobility. This should be requested via the intercom, which is located at the entrance to each car park. Both terminals have many features for disabled passengers including low telephones, induction loops for use with hearing aids, lifts and specially designed toilets. Assistance is available from trained staff. Passengers with any form of disability are advised to inform their travel agent of any special requirements preferably at the time of booking. Passengers who require further assistance are advised to contact the information desk. In 2001 the airport invested £76,000 in an Ambulift to transport passengers with reduced mobility between the terminal and the airport.

CAR RENTAL

Business booths are situated in the Main Terminal departures lounge with credit card operated telephone, e-mail, modem and fax facilities. A Business Centre is available in the Eurohub Terminal, adjacent to the bureau de change; facilities include a small meeting room, fax machine, photocopier, telephone, typewriter and word processor; secretarial assistance is also available during bureau de change business hours.


CAR PARKING

Avis (tel: (0)121 782 6183), Europcar (tel: (0)121 782 6507), Hertz (tel: (0)121 782 5158), National (tel: (0)121 782 5481) and Budget (tel: (0)121 782 2266) are all represented in the Millennium Link Block.


DRIVING DIRECTIONS

The airport is situated on the A45 Birmingham-Coventry main route, off junction 6 of the M42. The airport gives direct access to the M1, M5, M6, and M40 motorways


PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Rail:
Train: A free Air Rail Link shuttle bus links the airport directly to Birmingham International Train Station and the National Exhibition Centre; it runs approximately every ten minutes from outside the main terminal (and train station). Birmingham International Train Station has a network of fast and frequent regional and intercity rail services; the service to London Euston is half-hourly (journey time: approximately 90 minutes). A charges of seven percent of the total room rate is payable to staff at the information at the time of booking; the outstanding balance is paid at the hotel reception
Road:
Bus: The airport has an extensive network of local bus services, which all arrive and depart from the set down area in front of the Main Terminal; for bus timetable and cost information call the CENTRO HOTLINE (tel: (0)121 200 2700). Coach: The airport is also served by a number of national coach services. Digbeth coach station (tel: (0)121 772 8177) in Birmingham city centre is a nationwide hub for National Express Coaches; the airport is linked to Digbeth every 20-30 minutes by bus no. 900. Taxis are available from outside the Millennium Link at the airport
