AIRPORT FACILITIES
Money
and communications: Two banks and two bureaux de change
are located in the Arrivals hall of the main terminal and ATMs
are available in both Arrivals and Departures in the main terminal.
Courtesy telephones are located throughout the airport.
Eating and drinking: There are plenty of self-service and
full-service restaurants, as well as cafés, snack bars and coffee shops
in the main terminal, and a snack bar in the satellite terminal.
Shopping: In the main terminal, shops include duty-free,
newsagents, boutiques and gift shops, bookstores and a range of speciality
shops. There is also a small shop in the satellite terminal.
Luggage: The lost property office (tel: (0)1 353 0000) is
located in Arrivals in the main terminal.
Other facilities: There are four first aid rooms, located
in Departures and Arrivals in the main terminal and in Arrivals and Departures
in the satellite terminal. Baby changing rooms are located in both the main
terminal and the satellite terminal

SERVICE TO PASSENGERS WITH DISABILITIES
Facilities at the airport
include disabled toilets, adapted walkways for vision-impaired
travellers, dedicated check-in counters and rest areas, elevators,
Braille signage and an alarm system to alert hearing and vision-impaired
passengers in case of emergency. Electric cars are available to
transport disabled passengers between the two terminals.

CONFERENCE FACILITIES
The IT&T Business Center in the
main terminal has offices equipped with desktop PCs, Internet access,
telephones, data ports, fax machines, laser and colour printers,
scanners, binding and copy facilities and office supplies, which
can be used by both business and leisure travellers; the Center
also has one conference room. In addition, there are five individual
private offices; facilities in these offices include PCs (with
Microsoft Office), Internet access, local and international electrical
adapters (for charging purposes), laser printers, office supplies,
videoconferencing facilities, e-mail facilities, modem connection
and telephones. The conference room is located on the second floor
of the main terminal and can seat up to six people; it is equipped
with teleconferencing and videoconferencing facilities, office
supplies, modem connection, electrical adapter, projector, screen
and white board. There are no business facilities in the satellite
terminal. |
CAR RENTAL
Avis, Hertz , National , Budget , Europcar and Sixt car
hire companies are all represented. |
CAR PARKING
There are spaces for over
4500 cars in the car parks at the airport. Short-term car parks
P1 and P2 are located just outside the Arrivals halls. Long-term
car park P3 is connected to the main terminal building via a courtesy
shuttle bus every 10 minutes (journey time: 5 minutes) and also
by a pedestrian bridge over the main road. The pick-up point for
the shuttle bus to car park P3 is clearly indicated outside the
Arrivals area of the main terminal building. Outside peak flight
hours, the shuttle bus operates on an on-call basis and courtesy
telephones are located at each stop for this purpose. |
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From Syntagma Square in
central Athens, take Vas Sifias Avenue, then Mesigion Avenue and
Marathonos Avenue, which leads to the airport. Alternatively, passengers
starting at Syntagma Square can reach the airport via Sygrou Avenue,
Vouliagmenis or Poseidonos Avenue and Varis Coropiou Avenue. |
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Rail:
Train: A light railway service is planned between the Athens metro and the main
railway station to the airport before the 2004 Olympic Games.
Road:
Bus: Two bus routes connect the airport with central Athens: E95 operates every
15 minutes 0500-2359 and every 30 minutes 0000-0459 to the airport from the city
centre via Mesogion Avenue and Attiki Odos; E96 runs every 20 minutes 0500-2359
and every 40 minutes 0000-0459 from Piraeus via Varis-Coropi Avenue. Alternatively,
passengers can take metro line 3 from the city centre to Ethniki Amina station
and then bus line E95 to the airport

AIRPORT HOTELS
The Sofitel Athens Airport Hotel ,
located close to the Arrivals and Departure halls of the main and
satellite terminals, will open in October 2001. The hotel will
offer 345 bedrooms, nine meeting rooms, a fully-equipped business
centre, a swimming pool, fitness centre, private underground parking
and 24-hour catering services. |
